Let’s start the week with some positivity! ☀️
Earlier this summer, two of our District 3 Patrol officers got a unique call: a 5-year-old had wandered into the Chick-fil-A on San Jose Boulevard all by himself. Officers Kelly and Perri found little William happily enjoying breakfast and lots of attention from the staff.
After some detective work (and a ride in a police car 🚓), William pointed out his home. The only problem? The gate was locked, and while William squeezed through earlier, the officers couldn’t. So, Officer Perri climbed over to knock on the door. You can imagine his parents’ surprise when they learned about their son’s morning adventure!
A few weeks later, we reunited the family and the officers at the same Chick-fil-A where this story began. 💙
To be clear: William’s parents are not in any trouble. They had several safety measures in place. But this is a good reminder to teach kids their home address, parents’ names, and a phone number. It could make a big difference in an emergency.
A big thank-you to the Chick-fil-A employees who immediately called us and kept William safe until officers arrived.
