Here are some clips taken from a recording made on Friday, August 2nd, 1985, of the CBS Special Movie as aired on WCBS channel 2, the New York City flagship station for the network.
The video begins with a partial intro for the 1981 Bo Derek flick "Tarzan, the Ape Man," followed by a network ID with local chyron. Then:
--a "we will return" bump;
--"Stir Crazy" ("the series") coming soon promo
--"Twilight Zone" coming soon promo with Robert Klein;
--"This is CBS," with dead air and "Please Stand By" slide (previously uploaded);
--"West 57th" premiere promo (with glimpses of Meredith Vieira and the World Trade Center);
--CBS Sports promo, Chris Evert-Lloyd at the U.S. Open;
--CBS News Newsbreak, with Bob Simon reporting on the Delta Flight 191 crash, caused by a microburst at a stopover in Dallas, killing 137. In another gruesome (but more avoidable) accident almost thirty years later, Simon was killed on his way to an assignment, in a towncar piloted by a questionable driver. The limo company put the blame on Simon for not wearing a seatbelt, but later settled with his widow.
--Fuji ad featuring a plane stunt, maybe a little unsuitable considering the news of the hour (and is that the music effect from the old Contac commercials?);
