The Catch-Up swimming drill is an old standby drill. Head Coach Paul Newsome of Swim Smooth is going to demonstrate this classic drill using the current of an Endless Pools Fastlane system.
The lessons of this drill could put you at risk of developing a slower freestyle swim stroke, and that becomes clear when you practice it against the Endless Pools swim current.
Catching-up – letting your hands meet at the front of the stroke – supposedly lengthens your stroke. But the constant velocity of the Endless Pools Fastlane demonstrates how you risk slowing yourself down by stretching out your stroke too much.
