In this part I have to travel through the City of the Damned and fight the Gorgons.
Some thoughts and tips -
- the Gorgons are so creepy - like something out of The Exorcist. I love the style of them, and how they're loyal to Dracula until they get corrupted.
- You're in the City of the Damned to get your Chaos Claws back, which lets you break through enemy defenses. The game teaches you how to do it during the boss battle. What's noteworthy after you get them back is that they also work on those giant turtle shell guys - breaking their armor lets you hit them from the front as well as the back.
- I don't particularly like the climbing sections in this area - staying on a single heavy chain will make it drop faster into the lava, and you need to alternate back and forth between as there are always at least two right next to each other.
- I got killed making the timed jumps onto the platforms - you can't fall, but there are some spiky platforms that crumble if you stay on them too long, and some that have lava bursts every so often. I went from full health to instant death when I stood on one for too long. Annoying.
- The Chupacabras used to steal your gear in the first game. Here, one of them works for Dracula and runs a shop. He'll sell three of your sub items at a time and restock if you leave and come back. Later in the game I used Dracula's Dragon Form attack and I sincerely wish I'd come back and restocked on the Dragon Scales. I only bought three later on without trying to respawn the shop, and it seriously would have helped in the final boss encounter much later on.
- I was getting my butt kicked by the Gorgon boss, mostly because I wasn't being aggressive enough and didn't know how to dodge some attacks while I was recording. It had been like a week in between standard difficulty and Prince of Darkness and I'd forgotten stuff. Sorry about that, but I edited with a transition to skip my couple of deaths.
