Farm Living: We Canned, We Cooked, We Cut Beams
Today was one of those full, satisfying days on the farm — the kind that reminds us why we live this life.
We spent the morning canning green beans straight from the garden, preparing for the months ahead and continuing the tradition of preserving food like our grandparents did. In the kitchen, Saundra whipped up a full country-style supper: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, and a fresh tomato pie, almost everything grown right here on our land.
Then it was time to switch gears and head to the sawmill. We're milling the last of the timbers that will be taken to a timber framing school, where we’ll begin building a cabin-style farm store — something we’ve dreamed about for a long time.
We even had a little hiccup along the way (a jar broke in the pressure canner — if you know, you know), but that’s part of it. Farm life isn’t perfect, but it’s always worth it.
