The wind has shifted! We have a major update on the forest fire near Sheraton Park Farms. While 600 acres have burned, we are sharing some incredible news about our current status and the power of community.
First and foremost, thank you. The last 24 hours have been a whirlwind of monitoring the ridge and checking the wind, but we have some relief to share. The forest fire that was just 2.5 miles away has shifted and is currently moving in the opposite direction from the farm.
As of this recording, the fire has consumed over 600 acres of rugged terrain and is currently 20% contained. While the danger has lessened for us, we are still thinking of those in the path of the fire.
In this video, I want to step away from the stats for a second and talk about something even more powerful: Community. We had an overwhelming number of you reach out to offer trailers, housing, and even places for our animals to stay if we had to evacuate. In the farming and homesteading world, your "neighbor" isn't just the person next door—it’s the community that stands with you when things get dangerous. We’re discussing why building these relationships is the most important "prep" you can ever do.

Since then, things have changed.
The fire has now shifted away from our farm and is moving in the opposite direction. At the time of this update, more than 600 acres have burned, and the fire is about 20% contained.
While we’re relieved by the change in direction, what stood out the most over the past few days had nothing to do with the fire itself.
It was the people.
We’ve had neighbors, friends, and even folks we’ve never met reach out—offering help, a place to stay, resources, and support if we needed it.
In times like this, you’re reminded how important community really is.
