The franchise era is at the absolute peak of its profitability, but I found some surprising parallels between the current situation Disney is in, controlling all the major properties in entertainment and ignoring anything new, and a company called World Championship Wrestling in the 1990's. That company went from #1 in 1997 to being out of business in 2001. Let's talk about the financial, creative, and psychological processes that I think could cause something like that to happen.
