I saw the sandstorm coming over the mountain as our jeeps headed for our Saharan camp. I even pointed out the storm, but our driver just brushed off my comment. Upon arrival we climbed aboard our camels and headed out onto the sand dunes. I assumed the storm was headed a different direction; surely they wouldn't take us out with a sand storm about to hit. Wrong. It struck in mid-ride, with blinding sand pelting my glasses and camera. I managed to get these few seconds of video footage before tucking the camera back into my pack, all the while holding on for dear life as the camel lurched up and down the dunes. It cost me dearly; the ground glass on my camera was ruined, as was the ability to auto focus. But I got the footage.
