I arrived in Hua Hin, Thailand just in time for the five-day holiday to celebrate the King's 88th birthday. In addition to musical performances and a candlelight ceremony to honor the King, who is revered by Thais, a group of world renown ice carvers spent Saturday creating what they believe to be the tallest ice sculpture of Buddha ever made. The project was the brainchild of ice sculptor Alongkorn Timcharoen, who, along with his team, has won many awards in the art of ice sculpting. Not long after I arrived I met the master sculptor's wife, who was kind enough to tell me about her husband's many awards and more than 20 years of training. I arrived shortly after noon and stayed until after dark, so that I could show you the results in the three minute video below. Hope you enjoy it!
