Save Berlin’s music schools!
We support the call for the 2nd music school demonstration – on 16 September 2024 from 12:30 to 1:45 pm in front of the Berlin House of Representatives (Niederkirchnerstraße 5, 10117 Berlin).
What is going on? According to a ruling by the Federal Social Court, fee-based contracts are no longer possible for music school teachers who are regularly employed. However, the intended process of implementing a 100% permanent position has come to a halt in Berlin, and the resulting problems are manifold and summarized here ogy.de/jjhq
So one thing is certain: the drama not only threatens the existence of almost 2,000 Berlin music school teachers and, with that, the teaching of a great many music students, but also, downstream, the continuous promotion of young talent, on which all of the city’s orchestras and ensembles are heavily dependent.
Therefore: Let us demonstrate together for a secure future for Berlin’s public music schools!
