A friend recently posed the question, " can I change my oil seal without dismantling the entire gearbox". It looks straight forward enough to pull off the retaining circlip and just lever the seal out, but I've never actually tried it myself, so had a go on a spare box that is from an Ariel. The seal and seal holder on mine looks different from others I've seen, and with mine, there is no need to remove the retaining circlip. The seal itself can be mullered out with a screwdriver after the sprocket spacer sleeve is pulled off of the shaft, the sleeve can be reversed if it has a slight groove worn in it.
