Pick this one up at Walmart for $149. I've heard so many people say these machines where cheap plastic chinese machines, so I figured I'd educate myself a bit on how they sew.
I start off sewing a retail jeans hem. I finish attempting to sew leather with mix results.
I no longer own this machine. I ended up returning it.
You may be able to use this machine to sew a pair of jeans - as long as you don't require belt loops. ;) However, I wouldn't subject it to denim too often as it might not hold up to it.
Take a look at the Singer Heavy Duty Series of machines if you want to hem jeans.
