In this video I test the Janome HD1000's ability to sew a Levi's Jeans Hem, along with some home decorating fabric.
I use my Levi's Jeans Hem test as my basis for testing a machines power. I have $99 machines that can successfully sew through 8 to 10 layers of flat denim and make the transition from 2 to 6 to 8 layers. However, throw a Levi's flat fell seam at them and they grind to a halt. The difference is many of us need to hem jeans, but very few need to sew through 8 layers of flat denim.
