BROOKLYN - On April 1, 2026, around 1:20-1:25 p.m., 7-month-old Kaori Patterson-Moore was fatally shot in the head by a stray bullet while sitting in a stroller on the busy sidewalk at the corner of Moore Street and Humboldt Street in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Her mother was pushing the stroller (which also carried the baby's 2-year-old brother, who was unharmed), and the family was out for a walk when two men on a moped approached and the passenger fired multiple rounds in what police described as a suspected gang-related targeted shooting that went wrong. The parents rushed the infant to Woodhull Hospital by private means, where she was pronounced dead shortly afterward; security footage from a nearby bodega captured the mother's anguished reaction. One suspect, the reported shooter and a known gang associate, is in custody facing murder charges, while a massive manhunt continues for the moped driver, with a community reward offered for information leading to an arrest.
