A young man believed to be in his late teens or early 20s was fatally shot following an altercation outside a convenience store in the 8900 block of Braesmont Drive in southwest Houston on Saturday evening. According to police, a 911 caller reported seeing someone lying in the grass around 7 p.m. Officers responded and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene by Houston Fire Department EMS. Investigators say the shooting stemmed from a fight between two males in the store parking lot, during which one of the men pulled out a firearm and shot the other once before fleeing with the weapon. The suspect is described as a young Black male in his teens to early 20s. Dramatic scenes unfolded as grieving family members crossed crime scene tape, with two relatives briefly detained by police before being released about 30 minutes later.
