The Bristlecone and Alpine Loop is a 6.2 mile hike at Great Basin National Park that passes Stella and Teresa Lakes, a bristlecone pine grove with some of the oldest trees on Earth, and views of Wheeler Glacier. The trail starts from Wheeler Peak Campground at high elevation and climbs gradually through subalpine terrain. Most hikers can handle this route if they're acclimated to the elevation. Rangers call it the must-do hike in the park because it covers the signature features in one loop without requiring technical skills or permits.
