Several Texas festivals celebrate the shared heritage of sister cities on the Texas–Mexico border, while Border Town Days recognizes the shared heritage of sister cities on the Texas–New Mexico border, Farwell and Texico. The annual event started in 1967 as a three-day rodeo and parade—the only parade in the United States to begin in one state and end in another. The interstate parade continues, but the current celebration dumped the rodeo for live music and community fundraisers.
