Czech immigrants began settling in Central and North Texas in the 1850s, introducing a staple of Texas culture: kolaches. The National Polka Festival, founded in 1966, celebrates another. Attracting an estimated 50,000 polka enthusiasts to Ennis every year, the event fetes Czech history and culture with three days of music, dancing, and food at three community dance halls. This home movie records the scene at the Knights of Columbus and Katolicka Jednota Texaska (Catholic Union of Texas) venues during the 1992 festival.
