The Yeti Sounds a lot richer and more full and has proper gain control. Regardless I'm surprised how far the little $5 Neewer Lav Mic has gotten me. It was a time consuming workflow to edit audio from that little lav mic though. I would have to boost the audio, remove background hiss and work through the weird random crackles and pops. The Yeti doesn't have any of those issues and audio right out of the mic is usable.
It occasionally goes on sale for $99 USD which makes it a heckin good way to get started with quality audio. A lot of pro Youtubers use it or have used it in the past.
Literally anything will be better than your laptop mic though.
