How do we know what the original texts of the Bible actually said? The answer: textual criticism. And--it's one of the reasons translations of the Bible differ.
We have lots of Bible translations: KJV, NKJV, ESV, NIV, HCSV, NLT, NASB, TLB, etc. Which one should I use?
To answer this question, we need to know something about how we got so many versions. There are two primary answers:
1. Underlying biblical texts
2. Methods of translation
In this video, we will consider textual criticism. Without having the original texts (autographs), how do we know what the Scriptures actually say?
There are three primary methods of textual criticism:
1. Majority text
2. Byzantine Text (Textus Receptus)
3. Critical text
