Welcome to GamerU's tips and tricks for Best Fiends, here to discuss the valuable keys you can find. Keys are the major items to get a hold of in the game. Every time you complete a level for the first time, you get 3 free keys to use in a Rescue Box screen.
If you are lucky you can also get a free key during a level by randomly finding one on the board and collecting it using a combo. As soon as you see one, consider yourself lucky and go get it.
At the Rescue Box screen, you use all the keys you have to open as many boxes as possible to get goodies such as packages of yellow mites, blue mites, and diamonds, occasionally some energy refills to keep playing. You cannot leave this screen until you spend every one of your keys remaining. If you want, you can spend diamonds to get more keys to keep opening more and more boxes, which will usually increase the chance of you getting bigger and better rewards. Some of these nifty rewards include jackpots of meteor mites and diamonds, even permanent upgrades to your energy meter.
Of course, the most important free item you can get from keys are new characters. The first five new characters are preordained and will eventually show up, afterward, you must get lucky in the Rescue Box room with your keys. So trying your hand at spending diamonds for keys is not a bad idea if you want to have a go at character hunting, or getting lots of yellow mites quickly.
You may be thinking to yourself, why not just reboot the game after getting free keys for each level, so I can stockpile keys for one pass at the Rescue Box room instead of getting forced into there? That's not a great idea, because the game will catch on to you doing this and you will start to get LESS free keys after every level, up to zero free keys. That's right, you WILL lose out on free keys if you stockpile keys that way, until you spend up your stockpile; the game really wants you to use diamonds for keys, so fair warning.
