Do you deadlift? Why not PRECOVER your muscles before you begin by taking the shape of your deadlift down to the ground. When you deadlift, your legs are in a closed chain position, ie. your feet are in a fixed position on the floor. The weight used and your good friend gravity helps you get lower in your squat. Try flipping your deadlift to a yoga pose called Happy Baby. In this version, your feet are in an open chain position, meaning they are free to move and no longer fixed on the ground. Flipping your pose gives you new insights into the strength, mobility and health of your muscles and joints, in this case the hips, ankles and feet.

Once those imbalances are assessed, you can begin the work of PRECOVERY – preparing the joints for optimal congruency before your workout. Jill is using a variation of a dynamic Yoga Tune Up® Minivini - Prasarita Lunges to help Greg achieve a more robust range of motion on his right side. Give it a try to 1-2 minutes and retest your Happy Baby. Do you feel a difference? Now you’re ready for a more complete and evenly proportioned deadlift!
