I CLOSE MY EYES (AND DREAM OF YOU)
A Kaempfert composition that, at first (after the initial recording in 1969) was not released on any album. Later (1980s) the song appeared as a bonus track on the CD "Love That Bert Kaempfert".

It is difficult to understand why this beautiful, melodic Kaempfert song wasn't released at the end of the 1960s, except for a reason of "too much material for one album" ;)
That could well have been the case because, in the Maestro's own words : "Sometimes I found myself with so many new compositions, that I had to number them- before being able to add a title ....." Indeed..... Bert Kaempfert "had music in his heart" as Milt Gabler, his American producer during the sixties, once mentioned. His gift of composition and arrangement was unique - something which even made Peter Herbolzheimer say : "there will never be another Bert Kaempfert".
Whatever the case .... Bert's musical legacy (he wrote more than 300 original compositions) is a treasure that should be cherished by all. Enjoy !
