Benbaun, in Connenmara, is the highest of the 12 Bens standing at 2,392 ft or 729m. This hike brings you along forgotten roads and deserted buildings where people once lived and try to etch out a living off this wildly beautiful landscape. The climb can be difficult in places and caution is needed in parts. Along the hike I talk about one of the most scaring periods of Irish history, the potato famine, plus give a hiking guide of our route.
