Benasque 3 bis, from the Snow collection is a painting by contemporary Spanish artist Calo Carratalá. This high mountain peak, imposing and rocky, appears to blend into the grey clouds illuminated by a gentle sunlight. This painting is an oil on canvas in which white and grey tones are dominant.
Calo Carratalá is a Spanish contemporary artist, based in Valencia, specializing in landscape painting. The artist is passionate about travel and likes to paint the landscapes he finds on his travels which move him the most. His series of figurative paintings pay homage to the wonderful landscapes of Amazonia, Tanzania and Norway. Without implying it, the artist challenges our relationship with nature, and the ambivalent feelings it can inspire, between fear and fascination. Calo Carratalá’s work has been exhibited in many European galleries and public institutions. He has won several prestigious first prizes since the early 1990s.
