Nocturnal Melody 25 is a figurative painting by Chinese contemporary artist Hongyu Zhang.
This striking work is a mixed-media composition that combines Indian ink, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, and etching. Executed on grey cardboard mounted on canvas, the piece reveals a richly textured surface that amplifies its sense of depth and complexity.
The imagery suggests abstracted silhouettes of horses in motion, conveyed through bold, energetic strokes. A powerful contrast emerges between the luminous whites and pale beige fragments that stand out against the dense black background, while sharp orange accents punctuate the composition with vibrancy and tension.
The graphic intensity of ink and charcoal is softened and enlivened by the fluid vibrancy of pastel, which introduces movement and rhythm. Delicate etched details further enrich the surface, adding a tactile dimension. The result is an artwork that balances force and disorder with technical mastery, offering a visual experience that is both compelling and emotionally resonant.
This work is signed and sold framed. Dimensions of the framed artwork: 135 x 102 cm.

![Sezione Aurea 11-2025 | Mattia Bosco
The artistâs process is profoundly different to that found in traditional sculpture, in which the sculptor starts off with a block of stone â which contains the desired and imagined form within â from which he removes surplus material. In contrast, for Mattia Bosco, the sculptorâs intervention is simple, confined and restricted, and aims only to draw out and purify the form already present in the stone. Form and material are thus inseparable: by nature, stone always leans towards a certain form and is therefore already a potential sculpture.
The artist selects the rocks that fascinate him, right there in the quarries, from among the extracted fragments. Providing them with a base, he positions them vertically or hang them and then sets about making his own mark on the surface of the stone, using rotary cutters. There is a relationship of collaboration between the artist and the material: âIt is not a case of man on one side and the world on the other, [âŠ] the relationship between me, who is sculpting, and the material itself, is a tussle between two parts of the world, engaging in a show of force.â
