Kim, this is for you. We've basically motivated each other to wrap up our long-unfinished WIPs about these two, so it's only fair – plus, you deserve all the love possible for being the precious, supportive, enthusiastic human being you are ♥

I do apologize for the Star Wars/Reylo spam recently, but these two are all I can think about fandom-wise, especially after that beautifully hopeful final trailer we got (the MUSIC, God, John Williams has just done it again). This is likely to be my last pre-TROS Star Wars video (I can't believe the time has finally arrived to say it!), and it is an especially ambitious one I've been working on and off ever since getting a decent copy of TLJ back in the day (yeah yeah, see how hopelessly slow a vidder I am part 3827456). To me, this song is Reylo to the core (the freaking L Y R I C S), and every clip in this has some level of thought on my part behind it, as I've tried cramming in the video some of the symbolisms/meta traits that make me love this pair and their dynamic, among them:

-our perception as viewers that we've always had one clear central Force-wielder protagonist of each trilogy/generation, while with the ST and Rey/Ben we have two equally important halves making a whole;
-obvious yin/yang, light/dark completing/balancing each other out/endlessly circling each other themes (collecting literal visual shots for the “moving in and out of the shadow” line of the song has been a super interesting exercise);
-perceptions of one another constantly swinging back and forth (push and pull and constantly forcing some degree of soul-searching and character development on them both);
-commentary made by Ben or Rey about one another or made by other people about one of them actually describing BOTH of them (children in masks, can't stop needing parental figures = greatest weakness, needing to put the past behind them, losing faith in their masters etc.);
-a hint at reverse!Anidala (which I've actually never been the greatest fan of, as I've always thought that comparing Rey to Padme doesn't work as well as comparing Ben to Anakin when you exclude the “botched proposal” scene – but boy are the visual parallels stunning);
-some more meta quotes from ATLA (and particularly Zutara, aka the twin ship to Reylo), because it's almost unreal how they 100% sound like things Rey and/or Ben would say or think about one another. (That infamous parallel video between ships will be one of the first things I do with TROS for sure!)

I'm not sure that as a whole the video makes as much sense as it does to me, but I hope you will enjoy it nonetheless. Our watch has almost ended – circle prayer that this ending is a good one!
