Taking a break between editing canoe tripping videos. Bow drill practice, balsam fir on balsam fir (Abies balsamea). Bearing block is an old skateboard wheel, (cheating, but its good for practice). I almost lost the ember. I am finding with Bf that the ember is delicate and burns out if you don't take care, but otherwise it's a good bow drill wood to use. Knife is a Fallkniven F1. Hand drill status: still working on my beginner skills - its going slow, with blisters, and not ready for a video yet!
