“Everything can change...but we’ll always remain.”

What started as a tribute to brothers turned into something much more.... On July 16th, early Thursday morning we were viciously attacked in Chattanooga TN, when a gunman opened fire on two military facilities, killing 4 Marines, and 1 Sailor. (Or 6 including the shooter.) Five days later its still somewhat of a shock. When you see shootings similar to this on the news it doesn’t hit quite as hard till it actually hits home in your neighborhood, like this one has in the place I’ve called home all my life. It just didn’t seem REAL happening as I listened to it unfold on the radio when they broadcasted it live – from what started as an officer down turned into wide scale lockdown with an active shooter in the area, to what its been concluded now as an act of domestic terrorism. It is incomprehensible to think happening where I’ve grown-up, where my father works, and we drive countless times up and down on the same roads, shop and even go to college right where the shootings took place! Nothing will ever be the same again. Even though I do not currently reside in the city I still travel there often and catch myself saying its where I’m from since we moved 3 years ago, and it burns me up inside someone would do this, here of all places, to our service men. It was a cowardly and heinous act motivated by hatred, depression, and who knows what all as its still under investigation. It grieves me most in this senseless act innocent people paid the price, and now what these families and friends of the victims are going through because of it. This gunman didn’t just attack them, he attacked the whole community with his scheme and everyone is hurting, but if anything, anything good comes from this, it’s the response of brotherly love. Proving that from sadness comes joy; that God can turn evil to work for good!

I chose this song because it’s for one a Country song, and country music does better than any genre getting to the heart of tragedies such as these, at least in my opinion. Plus its what I was listening to when it happened and simple what my radio station is always set on and listen to everyday, guess it runs in the blood here in the south. The lyrics drove a nail into what I was feeling in the aftermath of all this and choked me up editing the lines, “Take a bullet for each other” or “lean on one another”. There have been so many stories flooding the news of heroism and a tremendous outpouring of love from the community to support the families and show respect for the fallen. From day one when the attack happened, police put their lives on the line to keep civilians safe and protect those who were shot; then dozens and dozens of people lined the doors to donate blood at Blood Assurance. Following, people all over have come with memorials of every kind from flowers to flags to crosses, walks, bike rides, and are raising money to support the families affected. I am so proud of this city and this community and proud to be a part of it! I’m too little to donate blood, so I did what I know to do best and show I’m NoogaStrong too. And that hashtag is the city slogan which means to show the world we will not let evil win by tearing us apart, but God will heal in time and become stronger because of this.

Allow me now to thank you guys (at least those who are reading) for letting me express my strong feelings sharing this news and vent about it. (I’m fine btw!) Maybe there are some of you who are in this area and this goes out to you, but I do not expect most of you who watch my vids to understand and its okay. I will say however, IF you’d like to support or donate money to the families of the who’ve lost their loved ones you can learn more about doing so here: nationalcompassionfund.org

As I stated above, this project started as a tribute to brothers, I actually started it a week prior to what happened. The artist Luke Bryan, tragically lost his own brother in a car accident when he only 19 and almost put a halt on his career but his father made him pursue it because he believed in him. (And for the record is my favorite contemporary Country artist! *fangirls*) His story always reminded me of Big Hero 6 in that respect and at when I first heard this song it was going to be a vid exclusively of it. However as I was editing, images of Brother Bear kept coming to mind so I brought them in, after that I thought I might as well go all out and throw in HTTYD and make it a tribute to all the bro & bud relationships. I surprised myself further in using more of the first brothers in Brother Bear with Sitka, Denahi and Kenai, and then moving onto Kenai and Koda at the end. All and all I like how it turned out in using all three movies and thought they fit the lyrics really well, especially at 0:35-0:42.
