Northern Lights begin at 11:30, Over 6 minutes of time-lapse aurora photography and real-time footage from this late September geomagnetic storm. Planned this trip weeks in advance, Northern Lights were expected to intensify over the weekend of September 27-28th. A new moon, no city lights, possible clear skies. I hoped. Just me, a few Wolves, a Kayak, and the Aurora in Manitoba's Nopiming Provincial Park. Nopiming is basically the Manitoba side of the boreal forest playground of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, offering many of the same Kayk in, Canoe in type amenities--except it is accessible by road.
I had to battle the rain and the clouds, and it seemed so touch and go all throughout the trip, but I managed to score northern lights on two separate nights! It's just typical stuff for September camping in Manitoba Canada.
I have an Aurora forecast series that I needed more B-Roll for. And now I have more of that! So check that out too so you can see how I was able to predict and plan for this almost a month in advance.
