This siren is located at Central State University in the unincorporated area called Wilberforce in Xenia Township and was installed by Werden Electric sometime in the late 2000's. It is an AC-only model and is controlled by Greene County or the CSU Police Department (not sure since but the Yagi seems to point in the direction of the county dispatch center) and tests with the county on the First Monday of every month at 12 noon. It runs a full alert cycle for tests and warnings. I placed my recorder here on the way to Cedarville's 2001 and was surprised that it worked when I reviewed the audio later.
The tones that come through are through the speaker on the radio receiver inside the control boxes.
This siren covers Central State University, even though there is technically a 2001-SRNB owned by Xenia Township which located at nearby Wilberforce University less than a mile away which is in range of CSU and fully covers it. This is the only American Signal siren in Greene County, as we only have a total of 29 active sirens in the county.
I am not sure why my audio recorder drops in volume and then slowly peaks back up in several spots of the video, I have not changed the settings much since I got it and it must be some default noise or wind cut setting trying to suppress wind or something, so sorry about that. I hopefully will get a video of this siren sometime this summer (pending that it is still tested during the summer).
With the upload of this video, this concludes the last video I had planned for Winter Break from college. With that, I will not be uploading or recording another siren until March, either for first Saturday or for the SWA tornado drill if that occurs this year.
Greene County tests on the First Monday of every month at noon, pending there are no thunderstorms or threatening weather in the area.
