❌Texture that looks real doesn’t come from adding more lines or marks…
It comes from understanding what those lines are sitting on or flowing around.
Here’s the big idea behind today’s reel 👇
Texture follows form.
In simple terms: texture should wrap around your subject, not sit flat on top of it.
Think of form as the body, and texture as the clothes.👗
If you don’t understand the form of the body underneath, the clothes won’t drape naturally.
Same thing in art, if you don’t build a solid 3D form first, your textures will look pasted on and flat.
This is why I’m always talking about working:
👉 large to small
👉 form before detail
When you start with simple forms and understanding plane changes, everything that comes after has something real to attach to.
Your shading makes sense. Your textures follow the curves. Your subject FEELS like it exists in space.
If your drawings or paintings look detailed but not believable, this is usually the missing step.
Train your eye to see form first…👀
