🚩Feeling scattered because you have too many art ideas? Try this simple fix.

This happens to a lot of artists. Your mind is constantly generating new possibilities… new subjects to paint, new techniques to try, new projects you’d love to start.

And this is actually a beautiful trait of creative minds.
However, it can become overwhelming if we don’t have simple systems that help us stay clear and productive.

When everything feels equally important, many artists end up experiencing decision fatigue. Instead of moving forward, they jump from project to project without finishing anything… or they feel stuck and don’t start at all because they don’t know which idea to choose.

One simple mindset shift can really help:

Not every idea that comes to you is meant to become a finished artwork.

In reality, most ideas tend to fall into three categories:

1️⃣ Ideas you won’t pursue at all (at least not right now)
Some ideas simply pass through your mind. They’re interesting in the moment, but they’re not meant to turn into anything. And that’s okay.

2️⃣ Ideas for small studies or sketchbook explorations
These are perfect for quick experiments, learning exercises, and personal exploration. No pressure. Just curiosity and growth.

3️⃣ Ideas for larger pieces or even a series
These are the ideas worth investing more time and energy into. The ones that align with your current skills, interests, and artistic goals.

When a new idea comes to you, try quickly sorting it into one of these buckets.

The more you practice doing this, the easier it becomes to stay focused and actually move projects forward.

One small practical habit that helps tremendously:
✨ Write your ideas down.

Our brains are great at generating ideas, but not so great at remembering them. Keeping a small notebook or notes app for your ideas lets you relax and focus on the work in front of you, knowing those ideas are safely captured for later.

You don’t need to pursue every idea.

Your job is simply to keep creating and follow the ones that matter most right now.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by too many project ideas? I’d love to hear your experience in the comments. 💬
