This is an 82-year old beauty. The P135 was first introduced in 1936 and was produced through circa 1945 (?). It's a 350 cc motorcycle with an OHV air-cooled single engine and 3-speed transmission with a foot-shift clutch. It seems most of these bikes were offered with hand shifters, but both versions were available, as evidenced by the parts manual. Peugeot engineers were the first to develop overhead cams, 4 valve heads, among other things. The HL stands for "Haut Luxe", which means it is the high luxury model with its high chromed exhaust and additional chrome on the tool boxes and top of the tank, including the Peugeot lions head in chrome on the sides. It also has the early brass carburetor.
