A customer brought us this Messerchmitt KR200 micro car supposedly "restored," but we call it refurbished and non-running. This unique 3-wheeled micro car from the mid 50s was designed by aircraft engineer Fritz Fend. It has an odd acrylic bubble canopy. The handlebar steering -much like an airplane - also takes some getting used to.
Another unique design is that it has no separate reverse gear. To go backward, you stop the engine and restart it in the opposite direction. It is all controlled with a special forward/reverse ignition switch. Parts are hard to find. Ziggy managed to refurbish this one and get it in reverse again. We also had to repair the carburetor, speedo and adjust the brakes. There are still some other fixes to come, but she runs!
