Just messing around after making some changes. I need to remind myself to go mess with the geese next time just to see if they get brolic.
This truck now has a camera for the 1.3g video feed along with the audio. I actually needed the backup video one day but didn't have it so I felt I should add it. I also replaced the fan with a much better one I found that is quieter but pushes more air. A proper fan should be keeping the O3 from getting hot on hot days. It can get hot and manage but should preferably only be slightly warm after 10 minutes. The day I needed the backup cam I drove out somewhere and backed into some bushes and randomly got a baby twig jammed in my cooling fan blades. After a minute or so the O3 shut down to keep from overheating and I couldn't see shit. That's a situation where I was glad the car was just in an empty parking lot less than 200 meters away.
I added some extra capacitance to the ESC battery to help the arduino nano out. The O3 as well since it has digital inputs tied to the ESC battery via the arduino and receiver channel. I plan on upgrading to way bigger tires so this thing is going to be working real hard soon. If it can just get a little more clearance and climb over rocks/sticks a little better I don't think I need to worry about accidentally getting it stuck in the woods. The main reason for an upgrade to Kaiju tires is to see if it can manage going in the big drain pipe near my building. Everything gets stuck in there before making it a foot in.
So far the cheap Osprey antenna on this setup has worked out ok but before trying something else I'm going to play around with more patches. The iFlight Crystal HD deal seems to work to some degree but there are definitely higher gain patches out there. After several successful test runs this setup seems to work out pretty good even omnidirectional so the only concern now is getting careless and wandering too far around large buildings. The downside is that my video still outranges my audio so I feel like in order to get them about equal I'd need to create too elaborate a setup on the 1.3g receiver. Maybe some kind of simple extension that pops the receiver out of the sun roof or something could solve that but I'm about tired of trying to improve my experience with 1.3g.
