With the news that the Aqueduct Racetrack in Queens, New York, is set to close after nearly 132 years in operation (with a few years off for renovations in the 50's), here are a couple of commercials from 1985.
Both feature New York Racing Association (NYRA) President Jerry McKeon, pipe in hand. In the first, he's strangely superimposed over scenes of horse racing. He seems a little more comfortable in the second, strolling around the new facilities, seen after another renovation.
The first ad is from April 1985, with a free t-shirt attendance offer. The other spot aired on New Year's Day of 1986.
