Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has requested assistance from Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto regarding Felda's RM2.5 billion investment in Eagle High Plantations.
The deal, signed in 2016 through Felda's subsidiary FIC Properties, saw the agency purchase a 37 per cent stake in the Indonesian palm oil firm for US$505.4 million, which is more than RM2.3 billion.
Despite arbitration proceedings at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) in 2024, the seller, Rajawali Group, must repurchase the shares, but enforcement remains stalled due to a legal challenge in a Jakarta court.
Anwar warned that without resolution, losses could reach RM2.5 billion against a potential recovery of just RM200 million.
Addressing Felda management,he highlighted the deal as a critical lesson on how top-level governance failures create heavy burdens across the entire organisation.
