Bursa Malaysia closed lower on Friday as investors took profits ahead of the long weekend.

The FBM KLCI slid 15.84 points to 1,725.88, compared with Thursday’s close of 1,741.72.

Market sentiment turned cautious before Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh’s speech at the Jackson Hole symposium.

The upcoming remarks are expected to provide further clues on the Fed’s policy direction, particularly on the outlook for inflation, interest rates and US Treasury yields.

The ringgit, meanwhile, strengthened against the US dollar at 4.0230.

In the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin traded lower at RM319,245.

Following the trend, Ethereum traded lower at RM10,013, while Solana stood at RM426.
