A 62-year-old man today admitted in the Sessions Court here to assaulting his 86-year-old neighbour with a metal rod, leaving him seriously injured.
Ooi Hock Wah pleaded guilty to a charge under Section 326 of the Penal Code before Sessions Court Judge Irwan Suainbon.
Ooi admitted to committing the offence in front of a house at 326-F, Jalan Perak, about 9.30am on Aug 23.
The charge carries a maximum 20-year jail term, and the offender may also be fined or whipped upon conviction.
The court was told that the victim, Oung Kien Hock, remained hospitalised and was still receiving treatment.
The court fixed Oct 1 for the facts of the case to be tendered and for sentencing.
