Something amazing happened as Sifan Hassan won the gold in the Paris Olympics.

Instead of about physical aspects, like biomechanics or kinematics, let’s talk about something else...

Her grit.

This was already a tough course with quite some hills.

Despite already putting her body through the 5000m and 10000m (and getting bronze in both), Sifan was able to muster up the energy and push through to win the gold in the marathon.

And this was not the only time that highlighted her grit.

London marathon 2023 was her debut marathon.

She was already trailing behind 1 hour into the race because of pain in her left hip.

One commentor even mentioned “She is clearly out of the race."

However, she found the will to push through and win that race too.

The point here is that training is not just about the physical body…you have to prepare for the mental aspects of the race too.

One more thing I want to add in here is that this post is not simply about ignoring how your body is feeling.

In fact, it is the opposite.

Accomplishing hard things are not easy.

You have to know when it is the right time to push. And when to recover.

I hope you found this post helpful. I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section below. And please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have for me too.
