First off I apologize for the weird quality due to the glare... I had no idea it looked like that.
Today I went to Pleasant Hill since Miami County was testing and it was nice out. I have never heard an ASC omnidirectional Tempest go for a full three minutes before, so I decided to go out to Pleasant Hill to hear one. It was very punchy and loud for its size, comparable to that of an Eclipse.
I met up with Dominic (SuperSirex127) for this test. Before and after the test some residents commented that the siren is too quiet and they can't hear it from outside their homes. A village official came out after the test and seemed to imply that this siren was purchased through an insurance claim. As you may (or may not) know, this siren replaced their old Model 7 a short time ago, after it was going off randomly with no explanation and I believe was struck by lightning. As for the dealer who installed this siren, I'm not certain who it was, but the install job is pretty clean and looks good. This siren also has emergency battery-backup power to run the siren in case of a power failure which is something likely essential for sirens in more rural communities like this one.
It would probably benefit Pleasant Hill to get horns put on this in the future or get a bigger siren if the issues with residents not hearing the siren really are founded, but it does a good enough job for now.
