Cross training is great for both types of skiing and many alpine skiers would benefit from learning to classic cross country ski. Our Fast Track to Classic programme is an ideal way to speed the learning curve - contact k2nicol@gmail.com for more info. The narrower cross country ski with lower boots that don't have bindings that which lock in the heel will challenge your balance when you just start out. But alpine skiers have an advantage since they are used to sliding on skis and use the classic athletic stance which is useful in classic skiing as well.
