Australian Army officers and soldiers from 7th Signal Regiment (7 Sig Regt) conducted a Freedom of Entry march through Toowoomba City on 20 September 2025, before being reviewed by Toowoomba Regional Council Mayor Geoff McDonald. Toowoomba Regional Council bestowed the honour upon the Cabarlah-based unit in honour of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals celebrating its centenary this year.
Freedom of Entry marches date back to ancient Rome and took place throughout medieval Europe, becoming popularised again in the nineteenth century. Marches are the highest honour a city can grant to a military force. The year of 2025 also marked 50 years since the first time 7 Sig Regt were given Freedom of Entry to Toowoomba City.
Chief of Army, Lieutenant General Simon Stuart, AO, DSC, was the principal official guest for the event while Royal Australian Corps of Signals Head of Corps, Brigadier Deane Limmer, CSM, was the host officer.
