In this video, I review Ring of Fear (1954), one of the standout discoveries from Imprint Films' Essential Film Noir Collection Volume 6.
Part noir thriller, part circus mystery, and part crime drama, Ring of Fear is one of the strangest and most entertaining films in Imprint's latest noir collection. Featuring legendary lion tamer Clyde Beatty and hard-boiled crime writer Mickey Spillane playing themselves, the film delivers a truly unique blend of murder mystery, suspense, and big-top spectacle. The story follows a series of mysterious accidents and acts of sabotage at a travelling circus, forcing Beatty to investigate a potential killer lurking among the performers.
While it may not be one of the most famous noirs of the 1950s, Ring of Fear has developed a reputation as one of the genre's most unusual curiosities and is receiving its worldwide Blu-ray debut as part of Imprint's Essential Film Noir Collection Volume 6.

📖 About the Film
Released in 1954, Ring of Fear centres on the Clyde Beatty Circus, where a series of increasingly dangerous incidents suggest someone is attempting to sabotage the show. When a former circus employee escapes from a mental institution and returns seeking revenge, suspicion falls on multiple performers. To solve the mystery, Beatty enlists the help of famous crime novelist Mickey Spillane.
The film is particularly notable for featuring both Clyde Beatty and Mickey Spillane portraying themselves, giving the movie an unusual semi-fictional quality rarely seen in film noir. It also combines traditional noir elements with circus settings, trained big cats, and murder mystery storytelling.
