But before the gothic horror boom, Hammer produced a fascinating range of crime thrillers and film noirs, and 36 Hours (1954) may be one of the most overlooked.
In this video, I review Hammer Films' new Limited Collector's Edition 4K UHD release of 36 Hours, a tense British noir thriller starring Dan Duryea. Newly restored in 4K and presented alongside its alternate US version Terror Street, this release shines a spotlight on a forgotten corner of Hammer history.

Released in 1954 and directed by Montgomery Tully, 36 Hours stars noir legend Dan Duryea as US Air Force Major Bill Rogers, who returns to post-war London to visit his estranged wife, only to find himself framed for her murder.
Forced into a desperate race against time, Rogers must uncover the real killer while avoiding the authorities and proving his innocence before it's too late. The result is a tightly paced thriller filled with suspense, mystery, and classic noir atmosphere.
Originally released in the United States under the title Terror Street, the film forms part of Hammer's often-overlooked crime and noir output from the 1950s, before the studio became synonymous with horror.
