DDLR - Defense dans la rue is known as the French version of Bartitsu - a self defense hybrid figthing method for gentlemen. Emil André wrote two books: 100 façons de se défendre dans la rue avec armes and 100 façons de se défendre dans la rue san armes (100 ways to defend yourself in the street without weapons/with weapons). According to Emile Andre these ruses are very well known among Spanish knife fighters with the Navaja and it could likely be he took his knowledge from the manual de baratero from the 19th cent.

Because nowadays the old school use of weapons as the walking cane or knife get an revival in Historical fencing and HEMA, we use these old books to bring life to those movements again.
