In 2013, 4Chan became absolutely furious after a user named KevinGangOrDie took a selfie, holding up his helpless pet dog, Charles, and posting the picture on Instagram for all to see.
After the image went viral, users on 4Chan knew that they had to do something to bring the abuser to justice and save the dog. So they got to work.
After thorough investigations, one user was able to find his username on another website, Ask.fm. From here, they spammed his account with countless questions and sent him hateful messages. They also demanded that he give up the dog, or he would face the wrath of 4Chan.
In a panic, Kevin deleted all of his social media accounts in an attempt to stay hidden. But eventually, by using the picture’s metadata, they were able to track him down to Frederick, Maryland.
