In 2010, 4Chan became enraged after Tumblr was caught stealing their memes, sparking one of the biggest online wars the internet has ever seen.
It all began when Tumblr took 4Chan’s HNNNG meme and made their own variation called “What is air”, a phrase describing laughing so hard you forget to breathe. Tumblr obsesses over it so much that it floods the internet, and they even raid Omegle, making it unusable for the regular user.
4Chan was not impressed. Not only did Tumblr steal their meme, but the new variation wasn’t even funny. To top it off, 4Chan was the one who conducted raids, not Tumblr.
Because of this, 4Chan commenced Operation Overlord to get back at Tumblr for what they have done.
