In 2011, a video appeared on YouTube of a livestream showing a man being shoved into a card stand in New York City. This caught the attention of 4Chan’s /b/, and many users thought it would be absolutely hilarious if they went on the livestream to keep knocking it over, for everyone to watch in real time.
This quickly became known as Operation CardStand, and by using the buildings in the background, 4Chan was able to track down exactly where the livestream was located, which was right next to Times Square.
Soon after, countless threads came up with users claiming that they lived near the store and would be there in 30 minutes to knock over the card stand. However, many users would never show up, making the phrase “Give Me 30 Minutes” famous on 4Chan and even on the internet as a whole.
But with all of the failed attempts, there were plenty of users who made it on camera, and some were even able to push down the card stand for all to see. But as 4Chan kept coming, the store owner began to catch on to what was happening. At one point, he even called the police, right as another anon was contemplating pushing it over.
